Amirah operates with a "survivor-ally team approach" to the work we do in aftercare. We recognize that the movement has rightfully called for survivor-leaders to be at the forefront of this work. However, we do not believe that this needs to be accomplished by dismissing the work of allies in this movement. We seek to equip our teams to be safe and equitable spaces for survivors and allies alike. We believe that this work is done best when we all come to the table together ready to listen, grow, and discover new solutions for the hard work of trauma recovery.
Objectives of presentation:
1. How to invite survivor voices to the table in a way that is non-exploitive.
2. How to find your path as an ally or a survivor in this movement.
3. Implementation of a true team approach over a hierarchical structure.
