Author, Refuge for Women
In my ten years of life after the sex trade, I have noticed a lack in the area of published, tangible transition experiences from trauma to triumph, for a person once purchased. So many terrific outreach programs exist to help people get out of a life in the sex industry, and there are also wonderful ministries—like the Refuge for Women—who help to rebuild sex industry workers towards regaining dignity and hope, and beginning to dream again. But what happens next? I transformed from an insecure but hopeful survivor of the sex trade to being a happily married, present and loving mother of two, who graduated with a Masters degree, manages the affairs of a non-profit, and writes books in her spare time. Through an intentional process of integration, I have managed to partner with God and my community of people to rebuild a meaningful life, and I am honored to offer insight and illustration as to what that actually looked like along the way.
